Gina Fratini famously was the label of choice for Elizabeth Taylor's second marriage to Richard Burton in 1975 in Bostwana, Africa. Fratini was a London-based fashion and costume designer whose label existed from 1964 into the eighties. She was also known for dressing Princess Diane and Princess Anne, who wore a Fratini gown for her 21st birthday portrait. She also worked for Normal Norell and designed the Ossie Clark lingerie line. Her closeness to Ossie is apparent in this dress as it has a decidedly Ossie feel to it! Made of a light cotton voile with a dot and leaf print it is a cascade of ruffles! The sleeves are phenomenal - they are widen as they near their ends into a full huge circle and have two full tiers of ruffles. The hem also ends this way with ruffled tiers. I love the little row of fabric covered buttons and the waist ties at the back with an attached tie so you can cinch it in more if needed. Very pretty and airy feeling. Excellent condition
